How to restrict ticket sales to a specific subset of contacts?

Shotgun allows you to create special tickets only available for sale to certain people. This feature is helpful if you want to:

• Offer ticket discounts to a list of people
• Sell tickets to your community first
• Reward your best customers
• Get more followers on Shotgun
• Create a membership program

How to restrict ticket sales to specific contacts:

1. Create a new segment

First, you must create the contact segment from which you plan to restrict ticket sales.

Shotgun allows you to create two types of segments:

• Static segments: these segments can be created by uploading a contact list
• Dynamic segments: these are contact segments that evolve over time based on filters you can define (minimum amount spent on past events, participation in certain events, subscribers to my Shotgun newsletter, etc.)

2. Restrict ticket sales

Now, visit the advanced settings of the ticket you want to restrict and select the segments you want to use for the restriction.

Once you have saved the restriction for your ticket, only people from the selected segments can purchase the ticket.

How does contact verification work?

Contact verification for ticket restrictions is done through the buyer's email address. When someone tries to purchase a restricted ticket, they can only buy it if their Shotgun account email address is in one of the selected segments.

Offer ticket discounts to a list of people

With this feature, you can offer a discount to a list of people.

1. Create a new Static Segment by uploading a CSV file containing the people list (learn more about segment)
2. Create a new hidden ticket
3. Restrict the sale of this ticket to the newly created segment
4. Share the link to this hidden ticket by email by sending a new mailing campaign to this segment

Sell the first tickets to your community

With this feature, you can reward your community by giving them early access to your events.

1. Create a new Dynamic Segment of type Event Participation
2. Create an Early Bird Community ticket
3. Restrict the sale of this ticket to the newly created segment
4. Publish your event in Pre-Sale with only this ticket available for sale

Reward your best customers

With this feature, you can reward your biggest fans by giving them early access to your events.

1. Create a new Dynamic Segment of type Total Spent
2. Create a hidden Special Fans Rate ticket
3. Restrict the sale of this ticket to the newly created segment
4. Share the link to this hidden ticket by email by sending a new mailing campaign to this segment
