At Shotgun, we understand the importance of ensuring every live music event is an experience to remember. We recognize the frustration of sold-out events and the disappointment it brings to fans who miss out on attending their favorite shows. That's why we've introduced the Waiting List feature, aimed at maximizing attendance and ensuring that no ticket goes unused.
How Does the Event Waiting List Work?
The Event Waiting List is a powerful tool designed to allow buyers to secure tickets to sold-out events. Here's how it works:
- Event is Sold-Out: The Waiting List automatically activates when an event reaches its maximum capacity and all tickets are sold out.
- Joining the Waiting List: Prospective buyers visiting the event page of a sold-out event have the option to join the waiting list. By doing so, they express their interest in attending the event if tickets become available.
- Ticket Resale: Ticket holders who are unable to attend the event can resell their ticket through our platform, the ticket is offered to the first person on the waiting list. This ensures that tickets are redistributed to eager attendees, maximizing event participation.
Why did we create this feature?
The Waiting List was developed with two primary goals in mind:
- Facilitating Ticket Resales: We understand that life can be unpredictable, and plans can change unexpectedly. By allowing ticket holders to resell their tickets easily, we empower them to mitigate losses and ensure their tickets don't go to waste.
- Maximizing Event Attendance: Our ultimate aim is to ensure that every live music event is enjoyed by as many fans as possible. By providing a mechanism for redistributing tickets to interested buyers, we help organizers fill seats and create unforgettable experiences for attendees.
How the Waiting List Works for Users
When an event is sold-out, users have the opportunity to join the waiting list to secure tickets whenever they become available for resale. Users can choose to activate the Auto-Pay option, which serves two purposes: first, they will be automatically charged whenever a new ticket is released, and second, they will be prioritized higher on the waiting list compared to users who haven't activated Auto-Pay.
If the event offers different ticket categories, users can specify which category they prefer to join. By doing so, they will receive tickets from the chosen category as soon as they become available for resale.
By default, tickets are always resold at the highest price possible. cf The Resale Upgrade.
The Charge Now Feature
For event organizers, keeping track of the waiting list and managing ticket releases is now easier than ever. With the Charge Now feature, you can take full control of ticket distribution even after your event has sold out.
Once your event reaches its capacity and there are interested users registered on the waiting list, you can view the number of people waiting directly from the overview page of your events. The Charge Now feature enables you to automatically charge users on the waiting list by selling them brand-new tickets. It would be interesting for you if your event capacity could be extended.
Users registered on the Waiting List with Auto-Pay activated have consented to be charged whenever new tickets become available for sale, ensuring seamless transactions. To utilize the Charge Now feature, simply navigate to your event overview, click on Charge Now, and you'll see the number of people listed for each type of ticket. From there, you can decide how many tickets of each type you want to release and sell automatically to users on the waiting list.
By leveraging the Charge Now feature, event organizers can efficiently manage ticket distribution, maximize attendance, and create unforgettable experiences for attendees.
