Hosting events with secret locations? Here’s how to announce and manage a secret addresskeeping the mystery alive while ensuring a smooth experience for your buyers.
Exact Address → if you already know the exact location.
General Location (e.g., “Uptown New York”) → if you want to keep the mystery while reassuring buyers.
💡 Set up at least a general location helps buyers trust your event’s legitimacy, while keeping the exact location hidden. This way, your fans will see the name of the city, without a specific address, as shown below. 👇
Let buyers know when and how they’ll receive the address:
Add a note in your event description (e.g., “Exact location revealed 24h before the event”).
Keep your message consistent across social media and emails.
Reveal the address
When it’s time to reveal the address:
Go to your Smartboard > Marketing > Campaigns
Click on "Announce address" to send an email and push notification to all ticket holders
💡 This ensures every attendee receives the correct details securely without making the address public. Here is what they will receive 👇
Once revealed, buyers can always find the address in their tickets. Encourage them to check there first to reduce last-minute support requests.
Update your event address on your Shotgun event page
The “Announce Address” action does not update your public Shotgun event page. To do so:
From your Smartboard homepage, click on your event
Go to your Event settings
Enter the exact address
Click Update event to save changes
💡 Plan the reveal moment carefully (e.g., 48h before the event). Delayed or last-minute reveals can frustrate buyers.
