When adding artists to your lineup, you might notice that some names don’t appear in the dropdown list. Don’t worry, it’s usually for one of the reasons below, and each has a quick fix.
In this article
- Artist follower limit restriction
- Missing SoundCloud profile
- SoundCloud profile exists but doesn’t show
- Multiple artists with the same name
Artist follower limit restriction
The artist might not appear because of Shotgun’s visibility limit for high-follower artists.
To ensure fair use, Shotgun restricts the visibility of artists with a very large following on Instagram, Shotgun, or SoundCloud.
💡 Solution: Contact our support team, they can lift the restriction for your account.
The artist doesn’t have a SoundCloud profile
Shotgun artist pages are linked directly to SoundCloud accounts.
If an artist doesn’t have a SoundCloud page, they won’t appear in the search list.
💡 Solution: Contact our support team, specifying the artist’s name and the link to their Spotify profile. The team will then be able to add the artist manually to your event.
The artist exists on SoundCloud but still doesn’t show up
This often happens when an artist changes their display name, but their SoundCloud URL remains the same, preventing the system from recognizing them.
💡 Solution: Go to the artist’s SoundCloud page and copy the end of the URL (for example, for https://soundcloud.com/radio-didou, the ID is radio-didou). Paste this ID into the search bar on Shotgun to find the artist.
Several artists share the same name
The system might not display the correct one if duplicate artist pages exist.
💡 Solution:
-
Try again using the artist’s SoundCloud URL (e.g.
https://soundcloud.com/radio-didou). - Or visit the Shotgun artist page and check the photo and SoundCloud/Spotify links to confirm it’s the right profile.
- If there are duplicates, select the one with the most followers on Shotgun.
☝️ The Shotgun Artist Support team can merge duplicate pages upon request. Artists can contact us via their portal.
