It’s a smooth, fan-friendly way to increase revenue, reduce support requests, and help fans access the experience they truly want.

Who can use this feature?
Ticket upgrades are available for any event with multiple deals or tiers, as long as at least one option is priced higher than another.
💡 This works particularly well for organizers offering Early Birds, Regular, and Last Release tiers, or VIP vs General Admission.
How to enable upgrades
For North America Organizers 🇺🇸
Ticket Upgrade is enabled by default on all events
For Rest Of The World 🌍
it must be manually setup by the Shotgun team
⚠️ For upgrades to work:
- Both deals must belong to the same event. Upgrades are not available across different event dates.
- The target (upgrade) deal must have a higher price
- The upgrade deal must be published and available
What fans see
- Fans see an “Upgrade my ticket” button in their ticket section
- They’re shown available higher-tier deals they can switch to
- They pay only the price difference
- Their new ticket is delivered instantly (email + on their account)
💡If no ticket can be upgraded, the button “Upgrade my tickets” is simply hidden.
On the web
For fans who don’t use or haven’t downloaded the Shotgun app:
They can log in to their Shotgun account on the web.
From their ticket section, they simply click Upgrade my ticket.
💡As soon as you enable ticket upgrades, we recommend informing your buyers that they can log in to their Shotgun account to upgrade their ticket (ex: if they want to upgrade a ticket for entry before midnight to an all-night ticket)
On the app
Fans can open the Shotgun app, go to their account, and find their tickets.
From there, they can upgrade directly.
💡As soon as you enable ticket upgrades, we recommend informing your buyers that they can go to their Shotgun app to upgrade their ticket (ex: if they want to upgrade a ticket for entry before midnight to an all-night ticket).
