Pre-registration helps you build momentum before ticket sales even begin. With a mobile-first design and built-in smart notifications, this feature is designed to:
- Grow your community early
- Create anticipation for your launch
- Convert more fans through segmentation and retargeting tools
In this article, we’ll walk you through how it works and how to configure it on your Shotgun Smartboard.
💡 A pre-registration phase means your event page is visible on Shotgun’s app & website but without tickets on sale yet.

What fans see
- On the app: Logged-in users can pre-register in 1 click and choose their preferred notification method (push, email, or both)
- On the web: Visitors can pre-register by simply entering their email — no account needed
At ticket release, pre-registered fans receive automatic notifications (push + email).
💡 Good to know: Pre-registering fans are marked as “interested ❤️” — increasing your event’s visibility and social proof.
Access your pre-registration data
Once your event is published in pre-registration, you’ll see three banners on your event page showing key performance insights:
- “Pre-registered”: Number of fans who signed up
- “Visits”: Number of unique visits to your event page
Retarget fans who haven’t bought tickets yet
As soon as pre-registrations begin, a smart segment is automatically created — it includes all fans who signed up but haven’t purchased tickets yet.
You can use this segment to:
- Send a dedicated email campaign
- Create exclusive ticket deals just for them
- Launch Meta retargeting ads to convert drop-offs
Edit or cancel a pre-Registration page
- You can edit your tagline, vertical cover, or scheduled release at any time from the event configuration page.
- To cancel a scheduled pre-registration, return to the event editor and adjust your publishing strategy.
