Need to make sure your tickets are only valid during a specific time window?
Ticket access validity lets you control exactly when a ticket can be scanned, helping you manage entry flow and prevent unwanted access.
This is particularly useful for early entries, late-night access, or multi-day events where not all tickets should be valid at the same time.

Why limit ticket access validity
By default, tickets remain valid for the entire duration of the event. Setting an access validity window allows you to add an extra layer of control at the entrance.
With ticket access validity, you can:
- Allow entry only within a defined time window
- Automatically reject scans before or after that period
- Better manage crowd flow and access priorities
- Handle complex formats such as multi-day or staggered-entry events
💡 You can define different validity windows for each ticket type, depending on your needs. For example: Before 10 PM, After 6 AM, Day 1 Pass, etc.
Set ticket access validity
Follow these steps to configure access validity for a ticket:
- Log in to the Smartboard and open your event
- Go to Ticket listing > Tickets
- Click Create a ticket, or select an existing ticket and click Edit
- Open Advanced options > Access control
- Set the start and end date and time under Ticket access validity
- Click Save
⚠️ Any scan outside the validity window is automatically rejected by the scanning app.
You can edit ticket access validity at any time, even after your event is published. Nothing is locked in.
Set specific ticket access validity
Need to scan the same ticket multiple times for a multi-day festival pass, ticket + parking, shuttles, or camping?
Use access lists to group tickets and allow them to be scanned more than once, depending on your setup.
