How to generate a QR code to share your event
Before diving into promotion strategies, let’s start with the basics: generating your event QR code.
You can do this directly from your Dashboard, without any setup.
- Go to your Event
- Open the Dashboard
- Hover over your event link
- Click on the QR code button
- Download your QR code
This QR code instantly directs users to your event page, making it perfect for posters, flyers, or quick sharing.
đź’ˇ The QR code works exactly like your event URL. It stays the same regardless of your event status or visibility:
- Draft / Pre-registration / On sale
- Private or public
⚠️ If you change your event URL in the event settings, the QR code becomes invalid. Make sure to download the new version after any update.
Track traffic and sales with QR codes
If you want to go a step further, you can track the performance of your campaigns using QR codes linked to tracking links.
This is especially useful to understand what channels drive the most traffic and sales.
How it works
From your event, you can create custom tracking links for each campaign.

- Number of sales
- Revenue generated
Example use case
Let’s say you’re running a poster campaign across your city.
Instead of using your default QR code, you can:
- Create a dedicated tracking link
- Generate its QR code
- Add it to your posters
This way, you’ll clearly see how many people scanned your posters and bought tickets from them.
Generate an Xpress door QR code
Shotgun also offers a dedicated QR code designed for on-site ticket sales: the Xpress door QR code.
This feature helps you sell tickets at the entrance by creating a smooth, fast, and autonomous buying experience for your audience. Ideal for:
- Last-minute attendees
- Reducing queues at the entrance
- Selling tickets without extra hardware
How it works
Each account has a unique Xpress door QR code.
When scanned, it:
- Displays your upcoming event
- Opens a simplified purchase flow
- Allows attendees to buy tickets instantly on their phone
